Had the most amazing night seeing Coldplay live in DC. The concert was absolutely incredible, it was everything I’d expected but so, so much more. And was definitely worth waiting for and looking forward to all year. The confetti, lasers, and balloons were all amazing and the glowing “Xylobands” were absolutely beautiful and I still am in awe that I got to be a part of something so beautiful and powerful. All of the photos and videos I’ve seen of Coldplay concerts did not do them justice – for the videos could not capture the energy and the love that radiated through the Verizon Center.
here are a few photos that I took!
Outside of the Verizon Center
Me with two of my Coldplayer friends from Tumblr. I’m the one on the far right.
[this was taken while we were waiting outside for nearly an hour for the doors to open at 6 – it was very worth it. We really really love Coldplay.]
The stadium before the show started. This place is huuuuuuuge!!
Me wearing my lovely Xyloband!
The stage, just before the opening acts came on. [they took the cover things off just before Coldplay came on and they had all these designs painted on them, it was really beautiful!]
The little screen-things with info and stuff about the wristbands just before the show started. Pretty exciting stuff right thar.
The graffiti background thing behind the stage.
The opening acts were both very, very good but as it got closer and closer to 9 PM the audience was getting super pumped. In fact we were getting so excited that we all clapped and cheered every time one of the roadies walked onto the stage to help set up the lights or move around the instruments. Someone in my section started doing the wave with a couple of their friends, but then not even a minute later it was circling around the entire stadium and literally EVERYONE was doing it, it was a strangely awesome feeling. It got around about 10 times. Very epic moment!
And now I should probably post a few pictures of when the band was actually on the stage. Due to my phone dying I didn’t get as many pictures of them as I would have liked, but it was one hell of a show so I’m kind of glad I got to enjoy it for what it was rather than struggling for pictures on my phone. [It’s a nice phone, but not really meant for taking concert photos unfortunately >.<]
Sorry that they’re blurry.
(^my favorite photo that I took last night)
And here’s a photo of the confetti flying all around the place. This one was taken by my dad but I just really wanted to share it here!
That night was hands down probably the BEST night of my life. Coldplay were absolutely amazing and the visuals were also absolutely gorgeous and really added power to the music. They played a lot of my favorite songs, and in many of the lyrics Chris Martin paid tribute to Washington by changing them around a bit [my favorite example being, "_I took my love down to Capital Hiiiiiiiill…_] and the crowd went absolutely nuts all four times. The whole concert, not only did I feel so very connected to the band but also to everyone else in the room. Silly as it may sound those glowing wristbands really mean quite a lot – it gives us this sense of connection and union, in a way.
In short, I don’t care what anyone else says, Coldplay is a fantastic band and they put on one HELL of a concert. I’m sad that it’s over but I’m also very, very glad that I got to experience something this beautiful. Thank you, Coldplay
