What type of shoes do you tend to buy and wear? I have seen so many people wear high heels no matter if they are short or if they are tall. I know that I have heard that it is bad for your back, feet, ankles, knees and legs to wear high heals. If you are a person that wears a high heeled shoe, do you feel it in your body when you wear shoes that have a high heel compared to a shoe that doesn't have a high heel? When I was younger, I used to wear high heeled shoes but I can't any longer. I feel it in my ankles, my knees, my calves and definitely in my back. I watch American Idol and I am so amazed at the size of the heels that these girls wear and I wonder how they can walk in shoes with heels that big. I know that I would end up twisting an ankle, hurting my knee or breaking a leg if I wore shoes with heels that big.

I love flat type of shoes. I do not like heels at all. You can't run in them and they hurt my feet. I also get a sore back from wearing them. If I have to wear them at a wedding or something, I also end up taking them off and going bare foot. However, I usually will wear dressy flats if I have to.

I like mid-size heels. Those high heeled platform shoes in the store are really cut, but not for me. I wouldn't even heels like that when I was younger.

I do wear heels and as for whether or not I feel the strain, it depends. It's more about the support otherwise and just how much walking I would do in them. If I were to walk around downtown all day in 6 inch heels, my feet would be killing me....but I regularly wear boots with 3 inch heels and don't feel any strain because they have nice support and my ankles get support from them being boots instead of strappy heels. I never feel it in my back, though, and it actually makes my calf muscles quite defined because they get a workout from it. I don't have any pain from that, though.

I really dislike high heels! I will only ever wear them on formal occasions, and I only occasionally wear flats/sandals. I like to wear sneakers, because I only wear shoes I feel comfortable running in. I could NEVER run in heels, heck, I can barely walk in them :D

I do not have any high heel shoes right now. I used to have two which is just given by a friend but I had never used it since I am not comfortable with it. I love flat sandals and rubber shoes since I love long walking.

I used to wear wedge and high-heeled shoes but now I am more inclined to flats and flip flops. High-heeled shoes make one feel sexy however it is not practical if you'll be walking for the most part of the day or if you are commuting. It's hard to run after buses in high heels, eh.

I don't like high heels. They are uncomfortable to me and I am already 5'11" so with any kind of heel, I am taller then everybody lol! Only time I wore high heels besides a wedding was a couple times to work when I was a cocktail server in a casino. It hurt my feet so bad! I immediately bought flats and was glad I didn't work for the casino in Atlantic City that requires their girls to wear 3 inch heels, I would have had to quit.

I was talking with many of the girls at the casino that required heels as it was my favorite casino. I asked them how they wore the heels everyday as I know being a cocktail server you are constantly walking quickly on a barely carpeted floor and a no carpet floor your hole shift. They said that they were in a lot of pain and that they were all getting bunions too. These were not boots, they were required to wear dress shoes with heels that made them look "sexy" as it was all part of being a cocktail server. I was so glad the casino I worked in allowed us to wear flats :)

I love high heels! I have really high arches and elevating my heels seems to help keep them from falling, which keeps my back from aching cause when you have fallen arches, it messes with your back. I can't stand in one place in high heels for a long time or the balls of my feet start to ache but walking around in them doesn't bother me at all... as long as I keep moving and don't stop or sit! HAHA And I can move around in them just like if I were wearing flat shoes... I can't say I've ever tried full out running but I can jog along, bend over, stretch, dance, jump...

The last time I wear a pair of high heel shoes was when I was a teenager and that was like over twenty years ago. The highest heel I've ever worn is about 2 inches high. I can't walk in shoes with heels higher than that.

I prefer to wear flats. It's easier to walk in and very comfortable and I don't put so much stress on my feet. Right now, I only buy sandals or flip-flops. No more high heels for me.

I can not wear high heels, eve though they look sexy and cute, I stay away from them because of my back. Every time I try to wear theme, after a while I experience pain in my leg muscles and in the evening my back hurts. So I usually buy a shoe with a wedge heel of not so high, one which will support my body mass properly and equally.

I have flat shoes and high heeled ones. Thing is, the shoe that I will wear for the day depends on my outfit overall, whatever looks best with it. I mostly wear skinny jeans and fitted tops so I wear either my converse or high heels with those. I never really had problems wearing them, it's such a bad idea though if you're pretty tired and you chose to wear a high heeled one for the day because you might trip over (which has happened to me a couple of times, in a public place..)

It won't be until the girls age into their 30's that they will have medical problems if they wear high heels very often . Medical surveys prove that fact over and over, yet advertisers want to sell the styles and designer shoes that women like and will buy without regard to the damage they are doing to their bodies. You are so right in the full scale of problems from high heels. Thank you for bringing this to the forum.

All heels are not made equal though. Yes, certain high heels are worse than others...the one study I saw, looked at wearing stilletos all day, most days. If you wear it every other day, it should not be too bad. Wearing a slight heel, can even be good for the foot of your arch.

I do not wear heels often though, only nights that I go out...soon I am dancing barefeet anyway. However, it is such a fun part of dressing up and going out with your friends that it should not be made into the 'bad guy' - that will just suck the joy out of night outs. But everyday to work, it may not be the best idea.
