These are suggestions and idea's from a mother to other Mothers. It is not intended as medical advice. If in doubt please contact your midwife, health visitor or doctor.

Here are some basics on bottle feeding:

What you need basics:

-Upto 6 to 8 Bottles.

-Bottle and Teat Brush.

-Sterilising equipment. This can be an electric steriliser, microwave steriliser or Cold Water steriliser.

-Formula.

You could then add on a bottle warmer if you don't want to run to the kitchen and freeze in the middle of the night. Although a thermas flask filled with hot water and a bowl is just as good.

You should wash your bottles and teats with warm soapy water after feeding and always sterilise. A good idea is to figure out how many feeds roughly your baby is taking and then make up a batch of feeds that you can keep in the fridge for upto 24 hours but no longer than that.

In my opinion an electric steriliser saves so much more time and the quickest on the market at the moment is in 8 mins.

Never warm a bottle in the Microwave. The milk is never throroughly warmed and there is a danger your baby could get scolded.

The fomula should be a tepid temperature before you give it to your baby. To check this allow a few drops to fall on the inside of your wrist or your arm. Never give a baby something that is too hot!

Halfway through the feed is always a good time to give your baby a rest and a little wind.

Avent also do a bottle feeding essentials kit that does save you at least £20.

Please feel free to add your own suggestions and ideas on how you bottle feed! :flower4u:
