online "friends"

Out of curiosity how many people here have made what they consider to be truly good friends online? ie: friends they cherish just as much as those they have met in real life

I consider myself lucky because I "met" Snowbaby online on another site and I love her to pieces :wub: even tho we've only met face to face a few times

I "met" Subby online and now we live together lol (dunno if he still counts as an "internet friend" now or not lmao

Potholer !! now she is special cos I made her my "adopted internet daughter" (Geez I feel old P was only about 14 y/o then lol)a few years ago and even tho we don't chat too much on msn anymore I still love her to bits lol (she IS family after all :p)

Dotty is super special to me........... even tho she is hardly around now (bad Dotty !)

Also a few others who aren't members of GP so I won't mention they're names lol
Obviously I've "met" my fair share of p-takers online as well but I don't lose sleep over people who I find out are fake friends

So who else has been as lucky as me?

Friendships can start online but they can become really deep friendships. I know some couples who met on one of my bigger forums and I even know of weddings and childs as a result of those online friendships...

You're right there are some crazy people out there but there's also normal ones who are absolutely fantastic. It's crazy thinking I've known you for like....6-7 years now?

I actually have made a couple of really good friends online. Three of which I have met in person and one which I married.

There are others that I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet. But my life is not over yet ;)

But then again, there still are "backstabbers" as well. Call themselves your friend and then start a bunch of crap with the ones that really are. -.-
 
I have a few decent friends I've made online and a few who have let me down. Just recently, I used to be a member of another forum. A real life friend who was also on the forum and was no longer my friend decided it was time to post personal and private information about my mental health among other things on this forum so now I find it really hard to trust people :(.
 
I had a friend I haven't talked to in ages when I was 13/14, her name was Dawn and she was about 16/17 I think.
I also met my best friend online - Serra, it was on live journal though.
Other online friends from the afore-mentioned forum: Miranda, Lexi, Alissa, Quinn, Haylee.

I've met some really good friends only, haven't actually met any of them though because they usually live super far, and I don't think i'd meet them anyways. But yeah, =)
 
Kismit! Do you, T and Snowy and Subby, remember Kismit? From UM? I alllllmost met her in 6th form by accident when I went on my father-daughter bonding trip. At the time she just happened to be working at an attraction called the Moeraki Boulders but the day I went there with Dad she had the day off. Damn. And later she was working at Otago but i don't know if I was studying there while she was working....

I have made friends on CL one in particular Amy... I love her infinitely. I have met some reall creeps online too though. I find that much like life meeting people from the net is a coin toss and when things work out regardless of how long they may last its really awesome.
