A woman in her early 30s isrecovering in hospital after giving birth to her first child in a pub this morning.
Her husband had been driving the woman to the Monash Medical Centre when he pulled into car park of the Chelsea Heights Hotel so she could make a toilet stop.
But Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokeswoman Liana Cross said an ambulance was at 10.40am called to the hotel, on the corner of Wells and Springvale roads.
"By the time paramedics arrived, the woman had given birth to a little girl. Both mother and baby were healthy and going well. It was a very quick delivery," Ms Cross said.
"They were all very excited. The baby's dad did a great job, as did the 000 call-taker who provided them with assistance.
"The hotel staff did a great job too. They provided towels and sheets.
