Ok, so my title might be misleading. But it's my blog, and I'll lead you to where I want. I can lead a horse to water, but I can't make it swim backstroke. Anyhow..... Two nights ago, we (myself and thistle) were awoken by the sound of a siren someone around the corner. Me coming from somewhere where I have heard sirens a lot, thought nothing of this occurence and tried to continue sleeping..... Thistle however twigged at something and got up. This was at 3am.
A few moments later she came back to tell me that the river had burst its banks, due to the rain. I was..."Oh.....K" as I was tired and didn't resally care that much. Then she told me it was gushing into the street outside our front door. I became a little more interested. Then she said police started to evacuate people from the houses at the back (nearest the river)..... I again became a little more interested. SHe decided to go and investigate, taking her camera and leaving me in bed.
SHe got back something like 15 minutes later. She said its higher then she can ever remmber, and has not only filled up the local car park for Morrison (supermarket).... but the other supermarket around the corner from us is flooded..... Council trucks were flying around, putting down sandbags and the like..... Thistle then informed me that someone went out to move their car, however it had floated away.
At this, Subby was awake. There is little more interesting to me then cars floating.... Of course I couldn't see this out the window.... But I did see our across road neighbours have their flat under at least a foot of water....... THey were working hard to try and cease the flow coming in. I also saw further don the street, towards the river, some people who didn' move there cars.... man were they possibly gonna be cranky this morning....lol
Anyhow, I couldn't sleep.... I was too interested, but THsitle finally went back to bed once the water started to subside. We are lucky, we are on the first floor of our building... and the water JUST didn't make it to our building, so we didn't need evacuation...
I had posted this elsewhere, but im an attention craving man....
