OK I need suggestions lol.

My 11 year old niece is coming to stay for a week with my brother.....because she lives so far away I missed her b'day (I know it sounds awful) so I want to buy her something and give it to her in person. The problem I have is that I have NO flippin idea what to get her :s

Now comes the REALLY awful part....

I LOVE my niece to pieces but (this is going to sound really terrible) her mother has brought her up to be a horribly spoilt brat who counts everything in monetary value but has no concept of how to look after things

On one hand I would love to spend a LOT of money of something special for her but the practical side of me thinks " why should I bother? she'll only break/lose/give away/swap whatever I buy her........OR.........her mother will take one look and say " I'll get you a better one" like she has done countless times before with whatever me or my family have bought her.

Any ideas what I can get her that she will not only appreciate but that her mother cannot POSSIBLY get a "better" one of?

What about taking her out for a day? A nice lunch at pizza hut or somewhere, and go cinema or go bowling?
 
LOL!

ok I ended up getting her a wee (well actually quite big) bag full of girly pampering stuff ......make up and body lotion etc etc etc.

I saw her last night......she's all growed up and big (same height as me already)

*sniff* baby niece not my baby niece no more

On the plus side..........she seems to have grown out of her spoilt brat stage.......I hope lol
