The body of a young boy found in the River Humber is thought to be that of missing youngster Ryan Davies.
Police are still awaiting formal identification of the body but have hinted it could be of 12-year-old Ryan, who went missing from Marple, near Stockport with his 40-year-old mother on 11th April.
Police say the death is being treated as suspicious. The body was recovered from the river at Swinefleet Haven, near Goole, East Yorkshire, after coastguards were alerted by a pleasure boat earlier today.
Ms Davies is still missing. She suffers from depression and police say they are concerned for her welfare. They are urging anyone who may have seen her to contact them immediately.
She was last seen with her autistic son at her mother's house. At the weekend her family appealed for help to trace the pair and urged Ms Davies not to hurt herself. It is thought she did not have medication for her depression.
She is described as white, 5ft 4in tall and of a slim build with shoulder-length brown hair.
A post-mortem examination is currently being carried out to determine the cause of death of the boy.
