Strathclyde Police have launched an investigation after a baby girl was taken to hospital, covered in what is believed to be human bite marks.
The 17-week-old child, from Oban, Argyll, was taken to hospital on Saturday. At first, her mother is understood to have said it was a rash, but the child was later transferred to a specialist unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley after that was ruled out.
It is believed that the child had what appeared to be human bite marks on her legs and other parts of her body.
Strathclyde Police have launched an investigation, but a spokesperson said that the inquiries were at an early stage.
It has been rep
orted that police have not ruled out the possibility that the injuries could have been caused by another child.
