Best non-chemical home cleaners

Werbung:
I pretty much use just microfiber cloths for wiping counters, cleaning window and mirrors and even for wiping down the shower/tubs. They are quite useful.

I like to keep my house as germ free as possible, but can't use bleach. Both my daughter and I have very sensitive skin, easily irritated by the least bit of bleach or other harsh chemical. Instead, I dilute isopropyl alcohol in water and spray on hard surfaces. The alcohol helps sanitize without causing skin irritations.

I too use alcohol to sanitize surfaces, it dries very quickly. To clean glass I use vinegar in a spray bottle, I also use vinegar on my tile floors. To clean surfaces I use water mixed with vinegar and a few drops of lemon or orange juice. The acid in both helps break down any dirt and also gives it a nice smell. Be sure to try a small spot first so that you know if it is the right ratio. Nothing worse than cleaning only to find that you have sticky counters after wards.

Vinegar always works well. You can even buy a specific vinegar that is made for cleaning at the supermarket for about 2 dollars. It works great for pretty much anything, even clogged drains!

Castile soap is a great one! There's so many uses for it and ou can find lots of great recipes and how-to's online. I'll back up the claim of vinegar too. Vinegar is a great cleaning product!

Baking soda - great mild abrasive, works better than Comet on bathtub scum.
Vinegar - cleans well, removes buildup, works well to clean up limescale and calcium build up (like CLR)
Rubbing alcohol - diluted, cleans up yucky messes and dries quickly (like cat upchuck)'
Baking soda AND vinegar - clears out drains like drano!

Grapfruit seed extract is a great natural cleaner. You can use it to wash fruit, clean your tooth brush and as a final rinse for your dishes. It is all natural and does not stink like vinegar.

I love baking soda and vinegar but if I want to clean a toilet, would I use that? The flush in our apartment broke, so we just flush with pouring a bucket of water in. That however leaves a toilet who needs a good scrubbing. Any recipe for that?

Hot water, white vinegar, and soda crystals all work. Lemon juice can help too. The best way is to heat some water in a bowl, add baking soda or soda crystals and then add the white vinegar and use it. The hot water activates it and makes it more effective.

Yep, I like to use all of these. I usually mix a little liquid soap with baking soda for a mild scrubbing agent. Vinegar works for tons of stuff. It can also be mixed with a bit of Dawn soap to make a great soap scum remover. Just let it sit for a few minutes and wipe it all away.

I don't have cats, but alcohol works on sticky stuff too.

The drain thing is perfect. Like a science fair volcano, lol.
