I'm currently drinking my last cup of coffee. I just ate potato pancakes for lunch. I don't usually eat lunch, but I had leftover mashed potatoes from our pork roast dinner, so I decided to try making potato pancakes from a recipe I found. They were pretty good too.

What's the last thing you ate or drank? (Please don't just give a one word answer).

Werbung:
Nachos. Soggy nachos full of melted cheese. It was ridiculous, probably because the chips were well passed their "best before" date, and because I overdosed them with salsa, and because I chucked them in the oven before the temperature was ready, etc, etc. But it was also sort of exactly what I was craving for in a way! Weird. I had cola-mix to it (half cola, half orange soda). But I've had water since too.

Haha, isn't it funny how sometimes a thing we would think "didn't turn out" at another time is just right at that particular time? I know I get cravings when I'm hormonal and a soggy nacho might even work. It really depends on my mood, but usually, I seem to crave whatever it is my body needs. Like if I keep wanting milk, I figure it's because I need the calcium. There's calcium in cheese too though, so nachos could work! :)

Yeah, I know just what you mean. I actually remember reading a page of a magazine once which told us what exactly our body needed depending on what we were craving -- like, there were different categories and so they told you that if you craved candy, chocolate, chips, any kind of "bad food", really, it meant your body needed X Y or Z, so you should go and give it that instead of the sweet-but-no-nutrition items.

I actually regret I did not cut it out or something!

I'm sure I've heard something similar at some point, which is probably where I got the idea that I needed calcium when I crave milk -or cheese- or ice cream! That would be an interesting read though. I'll have to see if I can find something like that. I bet there's something online somewhere. I probably won't keep a copy though. That would just make me feel guilty when I crave chocolate and really want chocolate (as opposed to whatever the more nutritious equivalent is). Besides, dark chocolate is good for you! :p

Okay, on the original topic, I had some oatmeal with sliced peaches. I was good today (so far).

Maaan I was so close to being able to name something kind of healthy (Bavarian potato salad, a ton of zucchini and seitan sausages) but... well... the last thing I ate was one of these popsicle (the ice cream one dipped in chocolate!) and then some canned lychees in syrup. But see, I twisted my answer to make it appear like I would still make healthy choices in life! (I mean, after the nachos thing, I pretty much have to, right?)

Yeah, I have those days too. I'll be good, but then... oops. That is of course when someone will ask or point it out. haha. They never "catch me" eating well, always when I decide to have something a little less than healthy. I have been eating a lot of healthier stuff lately though, so my little cheats don't make me feel quite so bad.

Lots of salads with fresh veggies and vinaigrette. Mmm mmm.

Mmmhm, I know what you mean. Though I am done with feeling guilty for indulging in good food (I do feel a bit uneasy when I eat meat, though, for everytime I think, "Darn, I cannot call myself a vegetarian! Even if I just eat this meat that I did not buy but only eat because it would go bad otherwise" -- to me, it's a moral gray area. The world outside of labels is a messy one! Same for healthy or junk label. *sigh*

On the other side this time the last meal I had was rice, gravy, fake-chicken that really looked, tasted and had the consistence of chicken! (but SO expensive!!) and red cabbage, German style. Delicious!
